I know this pit well. I have felt it many times. Before the start of a race, before a big drop in, when you know you are just too far inside when a big swell is on the horizon.
We are 37 miles from the put in at lake itasca, I have seen the first signs of completely frozen lakes and I know realize how far north I truly am.
The ice will thaw, but the cold will remain for many weeks to come.
The panic of race prep & what I could have done better is officially set in. Let’s hope the race prep was solid!
I haven’t planned for this adventure over the last year… I have planned for this adventure my entire life! Every time my parents said “ok” to me riding a bike across town, every time they showed me how to repair something, every time I broke down and ate goat cheese in Mexico, I was learning something new for this adventure. This adventure will prepare me for the next…
Let’s eat this elephant one bite at a time!
